That doesn’t really explain why the file explorer compiled for 64-bit computers is slow as balls

The real answer is no one. They will quickly realize that at the root of the economy are the regular people, and since the economy is a cycle, when you cut off a part, the cycle doesn’t work anymore.
People (doomers) here are saying businesses and rich people will, but this can only, work for a limited time, because either the products will shoot up in price since only the rich can afford them, or the businesses won’t be able to sell their products, so they can’t buy new things, which means no more revenue to the shareholders.
Think of all the companies that live from b2b models, when you look closer, they are all at some the suppliers of b2c businesses, except, maybe military companies. That company that makes the lithography machines (asml) only sells to other businesses such as tsmc. Tsmc also only sells to other businesses, but they sell to businesses that sell to consumers.
There’s other reasons to dislike Aral but these ain’t them. My list is more like:
Telecom industry is so corrupt here it’s unbelievable they get away with it
Yeah 100%. the current government here has a tendency to do bad stuff and a big fear here is they will slowly make it more private owned. But I think that every essential service should be state owned. electricity, groceries, clothing, internet etc. We have too few companies here that share too much of the market
Thanks for getting to our level on your own 😘
The last bracket which starts at 235k is about 58% (but there are many ways to put money aside to lower your income bracket). But don’t lose our hair worrying if we will have to file for bankruptcy to get basic healthcare. In Montreal we have a top 10 world university that costs less than 1000$ per semester for citizens. We also don’t have to worry about people carrying guns around. But go on I guess
The article and comments here make me very happy to live in Quebec where the electricity is 0,067CAD per kWh for the first 40, then after it is 0,103CAD per kWh, and most of the time, that electricity is 100% renewable. In Québec we have many problems but the electricity is one big point to be proud of as a nation
When you have a cat lawful evil really helps with “finding out the mf had a lot of fun during the night and completely destroyed this brand new roll”
This is the fediverse, what do you expect? There will always be something to be complaining about here!

Yes. This 1000x. I hate it at work when I come across code that was written 3 years ago that has literally no traces of why it’s there and a quick summary of what it does. Especially because that code is always the most abbreviated spaghetti you’ve ever seen. People should stop thinking (their) code documents itself because 99.999% of programmers cannot do it right.
I really like the Google way of coding: assume the person reading the code is the most 1337 programmer ever, BUT that this person knows absolutely nothing about the project
You’ve perfectly captured twitter tech bro energy it’s kind of incredible actually
At least that’s actually easy and quick to do and is the only way of doing it. Centering a div however has 81639393 ways and it seems the one that works is different every time
At first I only noticed the indent. Wtf
Yeah they probably just use a 20 years old out of date system (like any government agency that respects itself) that doesn’t take into account that maybe a car doesn’t have a driver
I’d love to see that happen
I think the issue is theres no specific person or driving license, purely by speculation
Update on this: This is an issue in Mutter, and Robert Mader has started work on a fix for GNOME 47. The issue happens due to GTK and Mutter doing scaling differently and them not being in sync (the issue only appears in Nightly)

The question really is why do they keep hanging to NTFS? It’s like 156 years old at this point, there are so many newer alternatives like btrfs that are faster, support bigger drives and have more features like snapshots
